    Provide a safe, secure and service oriented environment conducive to the learning mission of the University. Perform a variety of functions in connection with general duty police work for maintenance of public peace and welfare, protection of lives and property, and enforcement of laws and University regulations. Act without immediate supervision and exercise independent judgment in emergency situations. Tasks include, but not limited to: traffic regulations; handling complaints; conducting investigations; making reports; guarding University property. Shifts are on a rotating basis, including weekends and holidays.

    High School Diploma or GED, required

    Bachelor’s degree. Indiana Law Enforcement Academy certification, preferred.

    Possess a valid driver’s license with ability to be insured by Indiana University.

    Current and continued certification in university required courses such as CPR, AED, Blood Borne Pathogens, and IDACS. Current firearms qualification.

    Complete and maintain all required annual law enforcement training and certifications as prescribed by Indiana State Law and the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board (ILETB).

    Demonstrated competency in the performance of specialized duties wherein specialized training has been provided and completed.

    Meet the Entry standards of physical fitness testing (ILEA), physical examination, psychological evaluation, drug screening, verbal interview, and background investigation.  Ability to communicate and perform duties effectively and in a professional manner; understand written and verbal instructions and perform tasks efficiently. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Basic knowledge of computers and word processing, email, and database software systems.
