It is with deep sadness that RUCKELSHAUS KAUTZMAN BLACKWELL BEMIS & DUNCAN, LLP announces the passing of senior partner, John F. Kautzman, who passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, with his family by his side. Always a fighter, John worked tirelessly and continued serving his treasured clients throughout his medical battle.

John was a champion of all his clients, but most ardently for those he served in the law enforcement community throughout the State of Indiana. He was a once in a lifetime talent and all at our firm were privileged and honored to work alongside him. John left an indelible mark on the legal profession in Indianapolis and throughout the State, on the hearts of those who knew him, and all of us at the firm. We will miss him dearly. With love, we mourn along John’s family, and his memory will be a source of inspiration for all of us.
